Zangla is a small village located in the Zanskar Valley in the Indian Himalayas, within the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Zangla lies on the banks of the Zanskar River, which flows through the valley, offering stunning views of rugged mountains and Tibetan-style architecture.

Zangla is situated in the remote and rugged Zanskar Valley, around 35 km from the town of Padum, the administrative center of the Zanskar region.

The village sits at an altitude of about 3,600 meters (11,800 feet), surrounded by towering peaks and valleys. The terrain is harsh and the weather conditions can be extreme, especially during the winter months.

Zangla is one of the oldest villages in Zanskar, and it is home to several monasteries, ancient Buddhist traditions, and Tibetan-influenced culture.

The village was historically part of the Zangla Kingdom, and it has several old monasteries, including the Zangla Monastery.

Zangla is relatively isolated and can only be reached by road or on foot, especially since the region is prone to snow and landslides. Most visitors reach it via Padum.

The road journey to Zangla can be quite challenging, especially during the winter months when snow blocks the roads, making it a destination for adventurous travelers.

Zangla has a high-altitude, arid climate, with cold winters and mild summers. The temperature can drop significantly during the winter months, with snow covering the region from November to March.

Summer, from May to September, is the best time to visit as the roads are clear and the weather is more temperate.
