Sumur one of the main settlements in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh in Northern India
Along the Nubra or Siachan River lie the villages of Sumur. Samstanling monastery is located in between Kyagar and Sumur village. After crossing the Shyok river you will found the road has flooded by glacier melt water.

Sumur is a small village and a base for exploring the valley. Just 3,100m up, it?s one of the lowest point in Ladakh, and you can feel the difference. When you will be going over the Khardung La pass.

In Sumur, there is a small monastery, a traditional Ladakhi house that situated around hundred years back and is open for visitors. You might be offered salty Butter Tea! Diskit gompa is not far away from the other side of the river.

In outdoor activities there are some option to explore the sand dunes next to the river or even you can go and ses for Bactrain Camel ride. This is one of the few parts of the world where the Bactrian Camel can still be found.
