Siachen Base Camp, Leh LadakhThe Siachen Glacier base camp is located at an altitude of 11,000 feet. It is about 6 hours drive north from the town of Leh. It is the Base Camp of the Indian army in the Siachen Glacier. region, within Indian territory. Indian Army captured the Glacier in 1984 through Operation Meghdoot. The post is named after Colonel Narendra Bull Kumar, who was one of the first officers who did expedition of the Siachen, helping.

Recently, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that tourists can now visit Siachen Glacier, which is the highest battlefield and one of the most difficult terrains on Earth. The cold desert of Ladakh, which lies beyond the mighty Karakoram range of the Himalayas, worldwide tourists are fascinated by the place. Here, you can see the mix of Indian and Tibetan cultures. Currently, tourists can only visit Warshi which is on way to Siachen Base camp and Tyakshi Village which is some distance ahead of Turtuk.
