Lachulung La is a pass on the Zanskar Range, located on Manali- Leh highway. Lachulung La is located at 16,600ft (5,059m) high above sea level.It is a rocky mountain with view of the undulating hills and Ladakh plateau below. It is located some 54 km from Sarchu and 24 km from Pang. It can be traversed cross-country by moving along the Brandy nala & Whiskey nala on both sides. However, due to elevation, the hikers face AMS- Acute mountain sickness, breathlessness during climb and those who have not undergone acclimatisation may face problem.
Best time to visit: The months from June to October are considered to be the most suitable time.
Where to stay: There is no option of staying at this place. The nearest option is Pang or Sarchu with camping option.
How to reach: It can be reached from Manali & Leh as well. The distance between Manali and Ghata loops is 278 km and from Leh is 195 km.
Weather: In summers days are warm and cold but nights are extremely cold. In winters the place is closed due to snowfall.
ATM: There is no ATM facility available; the nearest ATM is in the karu 30km before Leh, which is almost 161 km away.
