Ghata loops road trip to leh ladakh
Ladakh is not only blessed with natural beauty, unbelievable landscapes, blue sky, mesmerizing Rivers and sand dunes but it has some amazing stories or notions linked to it too.The Gata Loops is located on Manali Leh Highway nestled between Nakeela Pass and Sarchu. Ghata loops are a bend of 21 loops at an altitude 15302 feet. The drive on this route is roller coaster ride with sharp turns, curves and turns. The adventure of driving on the treacherous curvy road is lifetime experience and the 21 hair pin bend road is approx. 10 kilometres. The foothill at Ghata loops is an altitude of 13780 feet and the maximum height is 15302 feet above sea level. There are lot of stories related to Ghata loops the one which is very famous is Ghost of Ghata loops. The possibility of AMS is higher at Ghata loops is higher due to high altitude. It is advisable to cross the high passes without stop and take halt at low altitude.
Best time to visit: The months from June to October are considered to be the most suitable time.
Where to stay: There is no option of staying at Ghata loops. The nearest option is Pang or Sarchu with camping option.
There are two ways to reach Keylong.
How to reach: It can be reached from Manali & Leh as well. The distance between Manali and Ghata loops is 247 km and from Leh is 226 km.
Weather: In summers days are warm and cold but nights are extremely cold. In winters the place is closed due to snowfall.
ATM: There is no ATM facility available; the nearest ATM is in the Keylong which is almost 180km away.
Net connectivity: There is no signal /connectivity at this place. The nearest phone facility is 95Km away toward sarchu, at Army transit camp, where you can find satellite phone.
But that too for emergency.
